The winner of the 2022 Catholic Young Writer Award, sponsored by the Catholic Union Charitable Trust, was Gleb Lang of St Edmund’s School, Portsmouth. He came with his parents to the Catholic Union annual meeting to receive his Award – appropriately, this year the annual meeting was on St Edmund’s Day! The Award was presented by the President of the Catholic Union, Sir Edward Leigh MP.
The Award was initiated by The Keys, the Catholic Writers’ Guild of England and Wales, and as it expanded it was taken up by the Catholic Union Charitable Trust. For the 2022 Award, pupils at Catholic schools across England and Wales were invited to write about the Eucharist, focusing on the words of St John Paul II on his visit to Britain in 1982.
