Catholic Young Writer Award 2021

Joanna Bogle reports on this year’s competition:
“The problems faced by schools this year were obviously great. But we received a surprisingly good number of entries for the 2021 Catholic Young Writer Award.

Pupils were asked to discuss the statement by C.S. Lewis about Christ:  a madman, a liar or was He indeed the true God who came to be among us?

The overall winner was Samuel McCarthy of Bishop Vaughan School, Swansea, and prizes were also awarded to pupils at:

St John Houghton School, Kirk Hallam

Gumley House School Isleworth

Finchley Catholic High School

St Martin’s Catholic Academy Nuneaton

St Thomas Aquinas School Birmingham

It was a particular pleasure to be able to award the magnificent book on Catholicism produced by Lord Brennan:  this means that our young writers this year have a truly memorable award. We are also grateful to the Knights of St Columba who helped by spreading word of the Award through their own Youth and Schools initiative.”

Our grateful thanks go to Joanna Bogle for her work in organising this year’s Award.
