Do you want help support the lay Catholic voice in the public square for generations to come? The Catholic Union is entirely reliant on donations and we are encouraging our members and supporters to consider leaving a gift in their Will to the Catholic Union Charitable Trust (registered charity no. 1137317). Gifts to charities are exempt from Inheritance Tax.
A gift in a will can be:
- a pecuniary gift – a fixed sum of money
- a residuary gift – a share of an estate
- a specific gift – an object such as a piece of jewellery or even a house.
- A legacy can be made part of a new will or added as a codicil to an existing will.
Suggested wording for a pecuniary or specific gift:
“I give to the Catholic Union Charitable Trust (registered charity number 1137317) of St Maximilian Kolbe House, 63 Jeddo Road, London W12 9EE, the sum of £……. (or a specific gift) to be used for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors”.
Suggested wording for a residuary gift:
“I give all/fraction/% of my estate to the Catholic Union Charitable Trust (registered charity number 1137317) of St Maximilian Kolbe House, 63 Jeddo Road, London W12 9EE, to be used for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors”.
